Elvis was the first animal we rescued back in 2016, when he and his four siblings were offered for sale as live snake food at $2 each.

 

It broke our hearts to think of that being their fate, and that day marked the beginning of our rescue journey. We brought them home, fell madly in love, and our lives changed forever.

 

To date, we have rescued over 2,000 animals and will continue this work that will forever remain a priority for us.

 

We are thankful Elvis is still with us today.

Connie is a cherished member of our sanctuary, known for her remarkable story. She was born against the odds as a "Hinny" - a cross between a Muscovy and a Mallard. This unique heritage means Connie cannot have babies of her own, and she embodies the best traits of both ducks. She hatched during a power cut after her egg was cracked open not realising there was a duckling inside! She quickly became the darling of the family.

 

Mischievous and adored, Connie rules the roost, welcoming new ducks with her playful spirit. Her charming personality and high-flying antics make her a beloved resident at Connie's Coop!

Meet Scott, our very handsome 180kg piggy. He thinks he is a tiny boy, behaves just like a dog who wants constant pats and to lean his huge head on a lap all day!

 

Scott came to us about 5 years ago when his owner realised he was not a miniature pig after all - he and his sister, Zelda, were due to be euthanised if a home could not be found urgently.

 

While we never intended having pigs at the sanctuary, we wouldn't have it any other way, Scott is a gentle giant and we couldn't imagine life without him!

Ellie is a little trooper! She was found by the river, tired, and unable to keep up with her siblings. One of our committee found her and brought her to us. When we examined her, we found the reason she couldn’t keep up...she is missing one leg.

 

She did amazingly well to get about but she was a big target for predators and so she is growing up with us. We had a very very very broody Muscovy duck and we popped Ellie under the broody duck and she immediately took her as her own! we were so relieved as Ellie really needs a duck mum to teach her, while we also watch over her to support her where and when needed as she grows up.

Jay is a little Heritage Turkey teenager who was rejected by his mother at a day old, not only rejected, but pecked hard and thrown from the nest, twice! We hand-raised him, along with two other baby heritage turkeys surrendered to us.

 

Jay is such a character! He follows us about the property 'helping' us when we work. He is one of the most inquisitive animals we have known, there isn't anything going on that he isn't interested in. As a teenager he gets in a little bother with the adult turkeys we have as he doesn't quite behave and they quickly remind him he is still a teen and to behave!

Jenny came to us from another sanctuary when our beautiful female pig, Zelda, passed away. Scott was living alone then and we were concerned he would be lonely. We took Jenny as she was not getting along with the other pigs at the rescue she was at as they just didn't like her. So, she came to live with us. And Scott doesn't like her!

 

We watch to see what the issue was and it is that she teases the living life out of him! She is smaller and faster so she runs in and grabs his fruit or pumpkin and runs away, or when he is napping and she wants to play she nudges him to make him get up until he either growls or gets up and plays!
